Metrix Instrument Company today announced that it has secured ETL North American hazardous area approvals for its SETPOINT® machinery protection system, allowing installation in Division 2 flammable atmospheres as encountered in many oil and gas, chemical, and mining applications.
ETL certification is obtained from Intertek and satisfies requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in the United States and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) in Canada. The certification classifies the systems as non-incendive, allowing installation in Division 2 hazardous areas as well as non-hazardous areas. The approvals also allow separately-approved sensors located in Division 1 to be connected to the SETPOINT® system, via use of appropriate energy limiting barriers or isolators.
The SETPOINT® machinery protection system now carries INTERTEK North American approvals and CE Mark approvals. ATEX and IECEx approvals are pending and expected in late 2013. Certification documents are posted to www.metrixsetpoint.com as they become available
